Peterborough Animal Care Centre (PACC)
2019
Peterborough
A 22,000 ft² joint facility for the Peterborough Humane Society (PHS) and the Ontario Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA). Consisting of a spade/neuter clinic and an animal rehabilitation and adoption facility the mechanical design features an air-cooled VRF system and a custom variable air volume (VAV) system. Requirements for high levels of exhaust due to the presence of contaminants in animal enclosures meant a high amount of fresh air had to be brought back into the building. With an energy recovery system that completely prevents cross-contamination between the exhaust and fresh air, they will be able to reduce the operating cost of the facility.
